From Lake Annecy to the heart of Uganda, our impact is taking shape.
As part of our ongoing Adventures For A Cause initiative, we’ve taken another major step in turning purpose into progress.
In May 2025, we came together for the Annecy Challenge — our ninth Adventure For A Cause — a community weekend at Lake Annecy, France, where runners and walkers took part in distances up to a full marathon. Together, we raised an incredible £155,629, turning collective effort into real, visible change.
Every stride, every donation, and every bit of energy from that weekend is now transforming into something tangible: the complete build of Nyagakenke Village Primary School, just 200 metres from the main gate of Mgahinga National Park, on the border of Uganda and Rwanda — one of the world’s key areas for mountain gorilla conservation.
Building Nyagakenke Village Primary School
Nyagakenke Village Primary School is a government-run school serving 449 pupils — 236 girls and 213 boys — with just six full-time teachers.
Founded in 2012, the school has been operating under incredibly difficult conditions. Two of its classrooms are built from mud, wattle, and corrugated iron. Many pupils sit on the dirt floor during lessons, and sanitation facilities are minimal and unsuitable for the 400+ students who attend every day.
With the funds raised through the Annecy Challenge, we’re now building two new school buildings and sustainable sanitation facilities for more than 600 pupils. Our goal is to create a safe, inspiring learning environment that will also help attract more qualified teachers to the region.
“You can already feel the change taking shape — not just in the buildings, but in the energy of the community around them.”
— Leo & Casey Gripari, Founders of That Gorilla Brand
Education Meets Conservation
This school sits just steps away from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorilla, and plays a vital role in the relationship between education and conservation.
Through our partners, The Gorilla Organization and the Ugandan Wildlife Authority, pupils will take part in hands-on environmental and conservation activities, learning about wildlife protection and the importance of biodiversity.
By improving access to education, we’re helping to reduce poverty-driven poaching and strengthening community commitment to protecting the forest and its wildlife.
When children learn, wildlife lives.
Impact in Progress — Completion by January 2026
Construction is well underway, with foundations laid and walls rising. The Nyagakenke Village Primary School is expected to be completed by February 2026, marking one of our most meaningful milestones yet.
This project represents what Adventures For A Cause is all about, people coming together through sport, creativity, and purpose to create real change.
From Lake Annecy to Uganda, this is what purpose looks like.
Impact is in progress.
